Otro Lado Lodge

Otro Lado Lodge is a small resort just a few steps from one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. Situated in a quiet tropical garden with a swimming pool, the lodge is comprised of four separate residences, each with two levels and can accomodate four people confortably.

On the main floor of eachdwelling there are two sofa beds, a simple kitchen (equipped with a fridge plus coffee maker) and a private open-air bathroom.

Upstairs there is a queen size bed with an orthopedic mattress a closet and a private bathroom.Towels plus beddings are providede by the lodge.Each dwelling is equipped with a safe and airconditioning as well as a balcony with a wiew of the swimming pool, private garden, hammocks, a table and chairs.

The restaurant is open air concept with complimentary satellite television plus wireless internet.

The restaurant at Otro Lado offers traditional italian-mediterranean dishes with an asian flair: using fresh ingredients of the highest quality, olive oil, herbs and spices too. Create light, healthy and delicious fave.

Everyday Otro Lado offers you fresh pizza, pasta, focaccia and home made desserts. The menu always provides an array of vegetarian, meat and seafood options.

For breakfast you can choose from espresso, cappuccino, cakes, fruit salad, crèpes, pancakes or american -style breakfast.

Lunch offerings are a selection of salads and paninis with mediterranean -style ingredients.

At dinner savory appetizers, first and second courses are available to satisfy every palatte.

The restaurant is open everyday from 8 am until 10 pm and is closed on sunday nights. Complimentary satellite television and wireless internet are available in the restaurant.

Playa Santa Teresa is in the SW of the Nicoya Peninsula. It is one of the most beautiful beaches of Costa Rica. Thanks to consistant waves all year round, Playa Santa Teresa is considered a paradise for surfers of every level. Lessons and board rentals are available at all local surf shops.

Santa Teresa also offers a flourishing wellness community. Yoga plus Pilates classes of all levels with professional qualified instructors are always available. Various types of massage and esthetic treatments will suit all your relaxation needs.

For nature lovers and adventure seekers we suggest visiting the nature reserve of Cabo Blanco., sport fishing, horseback riding or a Canopy tour.

Local rentals of bicycles, quads, motorbikes and cars are always available.

HOW TO GET HERE from San Josè

By car: Take Highway Panamerican to Puntarenas, then the ferry from Puntarenas to Paquera..Follow the road from Paquera through Tambor, Cobano to Malpais/Santa Teresa.

By plane: From the international airport in San Josè, you can connect with Sansa or Natur Air (book flights by Internet) domestic flights to Tambor. From Tambor take a taxi to Santa Teresa (approx. 45 minutes).

By bus: From the Coca Cola bus station in San Josè there is a direct bus to Malpais and Santa Teresa daily. Call to check on departure times as they change frequently..

I'll make this short and sweet...if you're thinking of going to Costa Rica there is no better place than the Otro Lado Lodge...trust me I've see the others! Here you'll be treated like royalty by the lovely Nico and Baggi who run the place, and who will also treat you to great meals and even greater company. The food that comes out of their fun open kitchen is truly outstanding, and you are bound to miss it once you're gone! The accommodations are new, decorated with great taste, clean, and truly beautiful, as is the pool. All are welcome at Otro Lado, from families, to couples, and everyone's treated like a friend. Plus (if she likes you) their lovely dog will walk you to the beach which is only a few steps away! Otro Lado truly is a little piece of paradise, where you can escape into the wild, while at the same time not renouncing to all the conforts of our modern ilfe.

We stayed at Otro Lado for 6 weeks and it wasn't long enough. The cabinas are great - spacious, clean, beautifully done, hammocks to lounge in. It's right opposite a great surf beach, near to all Santa Teresa has to offer but still quiet and relaxing...... and the best thing... the hosts, they are great and cook the most amazing italian food!!! Will go back the first chance we get.

I am Italian but for the sake of getting the message across to as many people as possible I will write in English.

I never been in Costa Rica since my trip to the Otro Lado Lodge (March 2008). I found the perfect conditions of surfing, an incredible nature and the best part of it was my staying at Otro Lado Lodge.

The rooms are amazing I wish I had one like that In New York City where I am living now. By the way even if you are in two, you get a house with 2 floors 2 full beds,1 bathroom, and kitchen on the first and 1 queen and 1 bathroom on the second floor! It's HUGE.)

The food is extremely good (Italian standards!) and varied I ate literally every day at the Otro Lado Restaurant (lunch and dinner). Baggi is the beautiful passionated and talented cook, that every day serves a different menu.

Finally I would like to point out that at Otro Lado Lodge each and every one who works there shows the utmost kindness and devotion to the guest.
