The bed is directly enjoys the view of the volcano, the prices reasonable, the garden with a large pool undoubtedly comfortable. We love this place.

We would recommend this hotel.

Staff was very helpful. Tour & taxi pick-up, right outside your room. Room was very clean and nicely decorated. Although the fridge was set on the lowest setting, it froze our eggs? The view of the volcano was right outside our window. A little porch for sitting was very nice to watch wildlife. Beautiful hot tub & swimming pool. The flowers and plants were out of this world! I am a master gardener from Virginia and I only wish that my whole class could visit this place. It must contain every tropical species there is! Their gardener is to be HIGHLY commended for such careful, special, immaculate care of their grounds.

I found my 3 nights to be wonderful. My bungalow was clean and comfortable; the surroundings beautiful; a view directly onto the volcano from my porch. Very quiet, with nice pool and jacuzzi. Though there is not a restaurant, Vilma suggested a couple of places within a very short walking distance which were excellent. Vilma herself was very helpful and accommodating. I loved staying there and hope to return.

“A Remarkable Find”

We found this hotel on the spot--we had no reservations beofre arriving in Fortuna. It is in a great location near Fortuna, but outside of the noise and all-night activity. It is on the way from Fortuna to Arenal attractions. We stayed for two nights, and immensely enjoyed it. The room was quite large and the staff was very accommodating. Each room overlooks a garden which provides privacy. There is also parking on site, as well as a swimming pool and hot tub. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

“Nice Affordable Choice”

We stayed here 12/23 & 24, 2006. It was very quiet. Maybe 3 of the appx 10 units were occupied. Very friendly staff. Housekeeper spoke only Spanish & I only English and she went out of her way to attempt to communicate with me. She did a fabulous job and left little bundles of fresh flowers and towel sculptures on the bed. Very, Very clean. The pool & hot tub were lovely and the grounds were immaculate. Super quiet place to stay and we would have had an awesome view of the volcano if it had not been shrouded in clouds....Front desk made spa arrangements for me and tours for family. Very efficient & friendly.We had a room for 4 which had 1 queen bed & 2 twins. Perfect set up for family. Nice sized bath with limited hot water. Although, the shower was not uncomfortably cold, it was definitely not HOT. Nice location in relation to town & volcano. Easy access to restaurants and other activities.

This hotel was the find of our whole 2 weeks in Costa Rica. a fifth of the price of some other hotels we stayed at during our trip, and less than half the price of other surrounded hotels that weren't nearly as nice, we almost extended our stay in La Fortuna just so we could stay at this hotel a little longer.

The location was great, just outside of Santa Elena, but not too far. The people were nice and friendly, and the room was clean and big. A few ants around the place, but it's Costa Rica, for goodness sake.

The grounds are beautiful arranged with flowering plants and trees, and the Volcano is visible from the rooms, from the pool and from the jaccuzi. And take a look at the picture of the bed. Is that sweet or what?

The only downside is that the jaccuzi was only lukewarm, but I found that to be the case all over Costa Rica.

I would stay here again in a minute.

“A Tiny Gem”

The Hotel Villas Vilma is beautifully kept, clean, comfortable, and friendly. The plumbing works. The shower really has hot water. There is working air conditioning. The housekeeper is a wonder at performing art with the room towels-- an absolute delight! After spending two weeks in Costa Rica, I can say without a doubt that this was the hotel that I liked most.

It is true that Hotel Villas Vilma is small and has no swimming pool. We don't need a huge hotel(!) and we didn't go there to swim. There are several restaurants within walking distance and even more in the town of La Fortuna. There are quite a number of tour guides in the area, and they all will stop at the Villas Vilma, just like they do at the others. This place has a beautiful view of Arenal Volcano (yes, you can hear the volcano sometimes too!) and its own most pleasant garden area.

Finally, the managers speak English well enough to get by... but they really demonstrate that a smile is the most universal language of all!
